Rumors of Representational Art's demise are greatly exaggerated.*
In fact, Realism’s appeal is universal, ages old and as popular as ever. Representational Art is alive and well in artists
like Cynthia Kagan whose work ‘speaks directly’ of her subject matter.
Kagan tells a visual story. Her exploration of matter opens the viewer’s eyes a bit wider to worlds close at hand and those faraway. Through use of rule-bending hues and vivid brush strokes, Kagan retells the stories of ‘the everyday.’
The color-saturated canvases of her series, 'Scapes & Stills, elicit Impressionist’s daring, stylistic approach to interpreting sunlight’s drama on land and sea. The sensually complex instruments of Symphonic Close Up are a concerto of musicality.
Her deftly crafted animal and human portraiture of Series Horse & Rider, Wilds & Domestics and Here Doggie captures the essence of man, woman, and an array of best friends.
Kagan, a Long Island native, has called Los Angeles her home for more than 4 decades. Her work hangs in galleries,
museums, retail venues and numerous private collections worldwide.
